What comes to your mind when you think about
'church'? You might think of a building with the special
sanctuary where the preacher speaks each Sunday. There is probably music
from a choir or instrumental group. And of course there is the
congregation, the people that come to the church services each week.
Takoma Park Baptist Church (better known as "Takoma") is a church community
in Washington, DC designed to be a place where people from all walks of
life can find acceptance. We have existed for over 85 years as a
congregation that reflects the diversity of the neighborhood where we are
located. Our mission is to meet the needs of each person who calls Takoma
home.

We are a Christ-centered group that is
committed to personal growth and change. Our Christian
education classes and spiritual development activities are regular
times when children, youth and adults come together to learn about Jesus
and share their life experiences with one another.
As a congregation with members born in
America, Europe, Africa and the Caribbean, our worship incorporates
traditions from the Christian church throughout the world.
